Meet the Buyers

The Sussex Energy Saving Partnership (SESP) is holding Meet the Buyer events in October and November to help businesses spread their wings and take advantage of schemes designed to save energy for people across Sussex.

The Sussex Energy Saving Partnership is all about what it says on the tin: saving energy. The programme includes national initiatives like Green Deal and ECO (the Energy Company Obligation) plus other energy saving programmes.

The local authorities across East and West Sussex and Brighton & Hove City Council are all working together to improve the energy efficiency of all properties in their areas.

The ‘Meet the Buyer’ business events are designed to help companies interested in either becoming an installer of energy saving measures or carrying out work as an assessor.

To install Green Deal energy saving measures, businesses must have Green Deal Installer Certification, which can cost between £1,250 and £2,500.

To help towards this cost, West Sussex County Council, with the Sustainable Business Partnership, are offering grants of up to £1,000.

The dates of the events are:

16 October 2013 (Crawley)
23 October 2013 (Brighton)
30 October 2013 (Worthing)
6 November 2013 (Hastings)

Businesses can choose to attend a breakfast event or a late afternoon one for tea.

Louise Goldsmith, Leader of West Sussex County Council said: “This is a massive opportunity for local businesses and shows we’re serious about helping the local economy. This represents a huge investment in Sussex. It’s there for us to make a real difference to people’s lives by making homes warmer and more energy-efficient, whilst boosting business growth.”
