Horsham District Businesses are Winners at the Prestigious Gatwick Diamond 2012 Business Awards

The Gatwick Diamond Business Award winners are those businesses or people who have shown innovation and inspiration in their work, and have demonstrated a real commitment to the sub-region. Now in their fourth year the awards have become one of the regions premier business occasions - celebrating the best of the best across the Gatwick Diamond region.

Chairman of the judges, Jeremy Taylor said "Recognising and rewarding business innovation and success is at the heart of these awards. The aim is to raise awareness of entrepreneurship and business excellence and to help showcase business talent in the Gatwick Diamond region."

The following two Horsham District Businesses were the winners chosen by twenty judges from a diverse cross section of industry sectors:

New Business of the Year. Winner: Kissingate Brewery
Matt Turner of sponsors Creative Pod said “The winner of this award has illustrated that they can grow their business quickly and sustainably.   There is a focus on profitably in a tough climate and industry sector. I look forward to witnessing their further growth and future success.”

The International Business of the Year. Winner: Tetreon Technologies Ltd
Rosemary French of the Gatwick Diamond Initiative said “Tetreon designs, develops and manufactures under the Thermco™ brand horizontal diffusion furnaces and associated services including installation commissioning and process development in the semi-conductor, solar, and nano technology sectors.

  • They have grown from a start up in 2003 to £6.5m in 2011
  • They have consistently exported more than 90% of their turnover and 2011-12 showed a 50% increase in export.
  • Excellent training ethos – they employ apprentices and graduates straight from university and sponsor PHD research at Surrey andOxforduniversities to provide technical advice in respect of processing substrates for solar panels.
  • New customers in 2011 inIndia,China,Malaysia,USAandAustralia.
  • Innovation - Tetreon’s growth has come from a strategy which has focused on three key areas driving the company’s growth. Firstly, to identify key geographical markets and to concentrate on making inroads into those territories.  Secondly to develop products for a variety of technolgies, including semiconductors, solar, LED’s, MEMs devices and nano technology.  Thirdly to differentiate their products by providing solutions, incorporating process knowledge and service support with hardware supply.
  • Tetreon has a vision, a sound understanding of the global market and the ability to develop a strategy to respond to a rapidly changing environment.”


The Gatwick Diamond sub-region is a key economic area, not just for the South East, but for the whole country.  The Gatwick Diamond is home to a vast range of businesses, which span all sectors of the economy, from household names to niche companies, and from multinationals to sole traders.
