Coast to Capital LEP appoint two new Board Directors from RBS and American Express

Effective 17 January, 2013

Coast to Capital, the Local Enterprise Partnership for West Sussex, Croydon, Brighton & Hove, Lewes and the Gatwick Diamond, is pleased to announce that it has appointed two new board directors effective from 17th January 2013.

Ron Crank, Executive Director of Coast to Capital says that – 'As a result of one of our board directors taking on a significant new role in Europe and our increased workload, the Board agreed to appoint two new board directors'.

Michael La Rooy
Michael is currently Vice President, World Service Capabilities at American Express in Brighton and leads a global team of 400 employees. Michael has extensive international business experience having worked with American Express in New York, Hong Kong and Sydney. Before American Express, Michael worked at Ford New Zealand.

He was educated in New Zealand and graduated from Canterbury University,Christchurch.

Daryl Gayler
Daryl is currently Managing Director, South – Corporate Coverage at The Royal Bank of Scotland with responsibility for the bank's corporate banking business working with businesses with turnovers of between £25 - £500 million. Previously, he held positions at Bank Austria, Creditanstalt-Bankverein and NatWest.

Chairman John Peel says - 'in these two individuals, we will have two heavy hitters from the worlds of international business and finance which are two of our key focus areas. The rôle of a Board Director of the Coast to Capital LEP is demanding in both time and effort. Michael and Daryl join a Board of highly motivated individuals who want the best for their economy and are prepared to put real effort into resolving local economic issue and creating jobs'. We had a wealth of skills and talent applying to join the Board and many of the applicants have expressed their desire to join our two new Advisory Groups covering Enterprise and International activities where the real work will be undertaken.
